Audi Servicing at West Auto

Audi service due? Main dealer standards. Independent expertise.

We are an independent garage, not an Audi dealership. The same service schedule. The same attention to detail. Independent garage rates.

Call West Auto on 0191 271 1605 or enquire online to get booked in.

Your Local Independent Audi Garage in Westerhope, Newcastle

Once an Audi is out of its warranty period, most owners start weighing up whether the main dealer still makes sense. The servicing schedule has not changed. The prices have not come down.

At West Auto, we keep things clear and practical from the start.

We work with Audi drivers across Newcastle, Westerhope, West Denton, Chapel House, Chapel Park, Newbiggin Hall, Lemington, Denton Burn and the surrounding areas.

If your Audi needs more than a service, you are already in the right place. Our garage services include servicing, diagnostics, repairs and MOTs.

Audi Fixed and Flexible Servicing

Audi runs two service regimes, and knowing which yours is set to matters, because they call for different intervals and different oil.

Fixed servicing, sometimes called time and distance, runs to a set interval regardless of how the car is driven. It suits lower-mileage cars, short journeys and heavy town use, where the engine works harder than the miles suggest.

Flexible servicing, often called LongLife, lets the car monitor how it is actually being driven and extend the interval accordingly. It suits higher-mileage motorway driving, where the engine spends most of its time warm and lightly loaded.

Flexible looks cheaper on paper because the services come round less often. Whether it is right for your car depends entirely on how you use it. A car doing 4,000 short urban miles a year on a flexible schedule is not being looked after well, whatever the display says.

Tell us how you actually use the car when you call and we will talk through which regime suits it.

Will Independent Servicing Affect Your Audi Warranty?

No, and this is worth stating plainly because dealers are not always quick to mention it.

Under UK block exemption rules, you are entitled to have your vehicle serviced by an independent garage without affecting the manufacturer warranty. The conditions are straightforward: the work must follow the manufacturer's schedule, and the parts and fluids used must meet the manufacturer's specification.

That is exactly how we service Audi. Correct schedule, correct oil specification, quality parts, and a full invoice detailing what was done and what went in.

Keep those invoices. They are your service record and your evidence if a warranty question ever arises.

Audi Oil Specifications

This is where cheap Audi servicing goes wrong, and it is invisible until much later.

Audi engines do not simply specify a viscosity such as 5W-30. They call for a VW Group oil approval, and the fixed and flexible regimes require different approvals. An oil can be the correct viscosity and still be entirely wrong for the engine.

Getting it wrong has consequences: on diesels, an oil outside specification produces excess ash that clogs the diesel particulate filter. On turbocharged petrols, the wrong oil affects both lubrication and cooling of the turbo. Neither is cheap to put right.

We check what your specific engine and service regime call for before the car comes in, and use that. Nothing generic out of a bulk drum.

What an Audi Service Includes

Depending on whether you need an interim or full service, the work covers:
  • Engine oil and filter, to the correct VW Group specification.
  • Air filter.
  • Pollen and cabin filter.
  • Fuel filter on diesel models, where scheduled.
  • Spark plugs on petrol models, where scheduled.
  • Brake and clutch fluid level checks.
  • Coolant and screenwash levels.
  • Brake pad, disc and tyre inspection.
  • Suspension and steering inspection.
  • Lights, wipers and battery condition.
  • Diagnostic scan for stored fault codes.
You get told what we found, including anything approaching the end of its life, so nothing arrives as a surprise at the next MOT.

The Jobs That Sit Outside the Service Schedule

A standard service does not cover everything an Audi needs. These are the ones owners are most often unaware of:
  • Cambelt replacement. Many Audi diesels run a timing belt with a defined replacement interval. See cambelt replacement.
  • Wet belts. Some smaller three-cylinder petrol engines use a belt running in oil, with its own service requirements. See wet belts.
  • DSG gearbox oil. Wet-clutch DSG gearboxes need an oil and filter service at a set interval. Dry-clutch versions differ, so it depends on your model. See gearbox servicing.
  • Haldex fluid. quattro models using a Haldex coupling need a fluid change periodically, and it is very commonly missed.
  • Brake fluid. Typically every two years, and one of the most skipped jobs on any car. See brakes.
  • AdBlue. Modern Audi diesels use an SCR system with its own faults. See AdBlue repairs.
Tell us your registration and mileage and we will tell you which of these your car is due, rather than waiting for one to become a problem.

Audi Models We Work On

We service the full Audi range, including:
  • A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8.
  • Q2, Q3, Q5, Q7 and Q8.
  • TT.
  • S and RS models.
  • quattro and front-wheel-drive variants.
  • Petrol, diesel and hybrid.
If your Audi is not on that list, call us with the registration and we will confirm.

Why Choose West Auto for Audi Servicing?

Independent servicing only makes sense if the schedule is followed properly. Cheap servicing that cuts corners on oil specification costs more in the end than the dealer would have.

At West Auto, you get:
  • A trusted local garage in Westerhope, Newcastle.
  • Manufacturer schedule followed, so your warranty stays intact.
  • The correct VW Group oil specification for your engine and service regime.
  • A full invoice detailing the work and the parts used.
  • Honest advice on what is due beyond the basic service.
  • Servicing, MOTs, diagnostics and repairs in one place.
We are here to look after your Audi properly, at independent prices.

Audi Servicing Costs

Cost depends on the model, engine and whether you need an interim or full service, so there is no single figure worth quoting.

Give us your registration and mileage when you call and we will tell you what your Audi is due, what the service includes, and what it will cost. If anything outside the standard schedule is coming up, you will hear about it then rather than on the day.

Audi Servicing FAQs

Will servicing my Audi at an independent garage void the warranty?
No. Under UK and EU block exemption rules, you are free to have a vehicle serviced at an independent garage without affecting the manufacturer warranty, provided the work follows the manufacturer schedule and uses parts and fluids of the correct specification. Keep the invoices as your record.
What is the difference between Audi fixed and flexible servicing?
Fixed servicing, sometimes called time and distance, runs to a set interval and suits lower-mileage cars and heavy town use. Flexible servicing, or LongLife, lets the car monitor how it is driven and extend the interval, which suits higher-mileage motorway driving. The two use different oil specifications, so it matters which your car is set to.
Does the oil specification really matter on an Audi?
Yes, more than on many vehicles. Audi engines call for specific VW Group oil approvals rather than just a viscosity grade, and the flexible and fixed regimes require different ones. Using an oil outside the specification can affect the engine and, on diesels, the particulate filter.
How do I know which service my Audi is due?
The service interval display will tell you, and it is worth reading it out when you ring. Give us your registration and mileage too and we will confirm what your car needs.
What else does an Audi need besides the standard service?
Depending on the model, several items sit outside the basic service schedule: cambelt or wet belt replacement, DSG gearbox oil and filter services, Haldex fluid changes on quattro models, brake fluid every two years, and AdBlue on modern diesels. We will tell you what your particular car is due.

Highly recommend their services! Will be back 😊
Excellent garage. Highly recommend. Had an issue with the coolant on my way home from holiday with a 2 hour journey still to do. Pulled in at 4.30 and asked if they could take a look. Immediately saw the issue and set about a temporary repair. Friendly and knowledgeable. Even provided a cannister of water in case we needed a top up on the way home.
I cannot thank them enough. Highly recommend.
I had a great experience with this garage. The team was professional, friendly, and explained everything clearly before starting the repair. The work was done on time and the price was fair.
It’s hard to find a garage you can trust, but I definitely recommend them!
